PITCH PERFECT 3: Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson Getting SHOCKING Pay Raise!!!

166541-pitch503

After Pitch Perfect 2 made $70 million in its opening weekend, executives didn’t even blink when they green-lit Pitch Perfect 3. That news isn’t too shocking- we knew that it was coming. The question will be the cast.

18 year old (yet also Oscar nominee) Haille Sienfeld was brought on to the sequel to lead the franchise when our original cast graduates. But don’t expect her to be the new face of the franchise. They worked it in a little bit in the sequel, but expect the main focus of the third movie to be about Anna Kendrick in the ‘real world.’ She was an intern at a record label, which could become the setting for the third film. The question will be working in Rebel Wilson. Maybe Fat Amy could also work at the record label as an assistant? We’re not sure about that, but it works for now.

Executives thought they could just green-lit Pitch Perfect 3, but it seems they’ve got a lot of negotiating to do. Sienfeld’s contract includes a couple of movies so she’s fine. But Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson only signed on for one more film after Pitch Perfect. They’re obviously going to be apart of the third movie, but at what price? They got $2 million each for being in the sequel, which isn’t bad, but expect a much bigger pay day for these two stars. With the box office return of Pitch Perfect 2, Kendrick and Wilson could negotiate for up to $8 million. If that seems like an unrealistic bump up, it’s really not. Nowadays every star’s demanding a pay raise. Jennifer Lawrence refused to work on the third Hunger Games movie without getting $10 million. The two leads of Fifty Shades won’t step foot on set without a bigger paycheck for the sequel. It’s not bratty it’s business. Kendrick and Wilson could pull it off.

Whatever they say, they’ll probably get. These two stars are crucial to the success of the franchise and they’ll get their way.  The franchise is making ridiculous amounts of money, and it’s no surprise that it’s two leads want to be apart of that.

SUMMER MOVIE PREVIEW: June

2015 is the biggest year for blockbuster movies. In the same way that 1939 was an impressive year for films (with The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind), 2015 is going to be an impressive year for mindless action movies. And we’ve got plenty. This summer is a tsunami for movie fans. Every week there’s something coming out that will break box office records. Let’s break down this summer’s movie slate. Get your popcorn buttered and refill your oversized soda- it’s summer, people!!! Down below are our picks for the Must See Movies of June.

SPY (June 5)

We’re all a little tired of Melissa McCarthy, but this looks promising. Or at least, it looks like it could be one of the better Melissa McCarthy comedies (anything’s better than Tammy). Rose Byrne, Jason Statham, and Jude Law add support to this fun (and probably stupid) spy comedy. It’s from the godfather of the genre, Paul Feig, so the movie could be funny. We’re still a little reluctant after sitting through Hot Pursuit but we think (and pray) that this will make us believe in the female driven comedy again.

JURASSIC WORLD (June 12)

This is a tent pole blockbuster this year (wedged in between The Avengers and Star Wars). It’s expected to revamp the beloved franchise with Chris Pratt leading the charge of pterodactyls (literally, you should see the trailer!!!). Our ticket is already bought (it’s Jurassic Park, c’mon!?) and we’re sure a lot of nostalgic fans will be packing movie theaters to check out the next ridiculous installment.

LIVE FROM NEW YORK! (June 12)

This low budget documentary is a must see for any fan of comedy. This behind the scenes look at SNL looks fascinating. There’s interviews from legendary SNL alums, never before seen footage, and an inside scoop on the workings of this iconic sketch comedy show. It’s a must see for anyone who knows the name Lorne Michaels and an even bigger must see for the people that don’t (how do you not know the God behind comedy!?!?).

ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL (June 12)
Yeah, there’s a lot of movies coming out June 12th. This low budget Indie looks like one of the best of the summer. It’s not some crashing special effects spectacles; it’s endearing, intimate, and absolutely hilarious. It’s a movie adaptation from the adored YA book and looks like the perfect breather between big budget blockbusters. It’s a better version of The Fault In Our Stars. Take your niece. You won’t regret it. Trust us.

INSIDE OUT (June 19)

Can Pixar come back? After Toy Story 3, the animation studio lost their touch. This genius movie about what goes on inside a young girl’s head is sure to bring them back. We’ve been hearing insanely good things about this comedy. It has a dream cast and a fun premise. We want this movie to be good so badly, and with what we’re hearing, our wish might just come true.

TED 2 (June 26)

A Million Ways To Die In The West was a bomb last year, but Seth MacFarlane’s next comedy is sure to break records. It’s the sequel to the box office busting Ted with Amanda Seigfriend and Liam Nieson joining the cast. What could go wrong? Knock on wood, because this movie could be a disaster. The trailers were disappointing and this movie looks like a forced sequel (but then again, what sequel isn’t forced?). We loved the crude and offensive comedy, but maybe the sequel won’t be able to match the original’s hilarity.

Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick To Star In New Comedy

anna-kendrick-zac-efron

Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, Adam Devine, and Aubrey Plaza are starring in a comedy- do you guys even need to hear the synopsis? Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is about two immature brothers (Efron and Devine) who send out a request over social media for a weeding date. The message goes viral and they get thousands of applicants (we assume Kendrick and Plaza get the gig). It sounds like a fun idea, especially with the cast they’ve brought on. Zac Efron, despite a rough couple of dramas, is finding his niche in Hollywood with comedies (The Neighbors was a big success). Adam Devine is everywhere now, appearing on TV with Workaholics and Modern Family. It’s time the comedian makes the cross to movies. Anna Kendrick’s a great actress that can do dramas, comedies, and musicals. Then you add Aubrey Plaza, whose a biting comedian whose hillarious on innocent comedies like Parks and Recreation and in dark Indie’s. I can’t wait to see this group of stars interact. They are four of the biggest younger stars (think about it, it makes sense). This movie seems fun and, more importantly, funny.

“Into The Woods” Movie REVIEW!!!

images (4)

Into The Woods is absolutely brilliant in all its glory. The wordy musical is thought provoking while being entertaining all the same. The interconnected fairy tales unraveling is fascinating to watch. Stephen Sondheim’s score is musical theater at it’s best. The strong star-studded cast bring life the tale beautifully. Emily Blunt is shockingly endearing as the Baker’s Wife while James Corden is a natural fit for the Baker. Meryl Streep, a force of acting, is much better in a musical this time around. She’s creepy with a rough voice that works (even if it’s not close to Bernadette Peter’s untouchable performance as the Witch). Anna Kendricks is great as Cinderella but Chris Pine is surprisingly hilarious as the arrogant Prince. The sweet Lilla Crawford (Little Red) pairs perfectly with Daniel Huttlestone (Jack), both with pipes that rival their co-stars. Johnny Depp is good in his cameo as the Wolf, Tracy Ullman is incredible as Jack’s vicious mother, but Christine Baranski is surprisingly flat as Cinderella’s vicious mother. The whimsical musical is witty if nothing else. Rob Marshall, the masterfull director, can say he has another success on his hands. Into The Woods is everything you want it to be. Into The Woods is perfect.

Watch “Pitch Perfect 2” Official Trailer!!!

Pitch Perfect is back you pitches!!! With a bolstered budget, this glossy HD is BEAUTIFUL. The concept, a world competition, seems interesting however trivial. The jokes are coming across. But with Elizabeth Banks, the movie walks a VERY fine line and at times comes off as stupid unoriginal comedy. The beginning of the trailer, meant to bring back nostalgia for the original film, seemed overly dramatized and just cheesy. When you have a story that crosses into song, cheesy is never a word you want associated with it. The emotional tug and the comedy longer seems natural but forced. Rebel Wilson is carrying the show with her pushing-it comedy (and just by falling down the stairs) while Anna Kendrick is apart of overused fart/loser jokes.  Hailee Steinfeld seems like the perfect new addition to the team (there are some crazy rumors that Ariana Grande could be making an appearance which we LOVE) but David Cross just seems like an annoying Zach Galifianakis. The trailer though DOES get you super pumped about the movie. Even if it seems a tad tacky, there’s a familiarity that makes you fall back in love with the concept of an a cappella movie done right. The internet has gone crazy for the trailer so it’s clearly doing it’s job. But to me, it looks good but a little stupid. Instead of “aca-mazing” (which everyone’s now calling it) I’d say it’s more “aca-word.”

Elizabeth Banks Will Direct Pitch Perfect 2

Elizabeth Banks Will Direct Pitch Perfect 2

All good news comes with a catch in Hollywood as the Pitch Perfect sequel was announced…with Elizabeth Banks at the helm. Yes, the Hunger Games and 30 Rock star will not only produce and play a part in the film (like she did in the first movie) but direct it!! We think it’s an…interesting choice but if there’s one movie for her to make her directorial debut in, this seems like the perfect fit. It already has the fan base and lucky for her, direction isn’t really a distinct aspect of the comedy. This is also a win for producers (at least for now!!!) with news circulating about the project. And while I didn’t really love her character in the surprise hit comedy, I think her contribution behind the scenes was superb. Having the original idea for the quirky comedy she deserves her accolades for the film, which thanks largely to On Demand (and of course “The Cup Song”) became a huge success. Were excited for both Pitch Perfect 2 and Elizabeth Banks (who will star in The Lego Movie, Walk of Shame, and many many others this year). This seems like a win for them and likely a win for audiences.
