Meryl Streep Asked About Diversity and Said “We’re All Africans, Really”

Meryl Streep is arguably the greatest actress alive. She thinks she’s also an activist, but we’re not so sure. When asked if she was a feminist on her press tour for Suffragette she replied “I am a humanist, I am for nice, easy balance.” When asked about the lack of diversity in the Berlin Film Festival’s jury panel (Streep is the president of the jury), the actress said “we’re all Africans really.” Meryl Streep is not sexist or racist. She’s an adamant supporter of women’s rights (so we’re still wondering why she’s not a feminist). But these answers need some explanation. Meryl Streep is a legend, but she should be more careful when asked a question. Right now, she’s coming across as problematic.
