ABC Family is rebranding. Their changing their name and their demographic. Because ratings juggernauts like Pretty Little Liars and The Fosters are geared towards tweens and teens, they are re-naming the network Freeform. Granted, its better than ABC Family. Their shows aren’t for families, they are geared toward young girls in Middle School and High School. It makes sense that they’d try to change the name and change the aesthetic to be more direct towards their audience. Disney Jr. and Disney are very popular networks among preschoolers and tweens. Freeform (which is owned by Disney), can be the network for teens. Or at least, it will try to be. We’re on board with this name change and think its the right move for the network. TV is already struggling as it is, Freeform will be just another attempt to get teenagers off Netflix and Hulu.
