In the middle of watching Amy, I wanted to walk out. The first hour was home videos that weren’t that interesting and interviews I could’ve seen on YouTube. And while I understand why they put that hour in (to really make you like Amy), you didn’t really get a take-away from that hour. But stick it through. Amy Winehouse is one of the most talented singers and one of the most tragic. Her documentary shows why she’s a star and why she became smacked on every Tabloid. The last half of the movie (where Amy becomes destructive in the spotlight) is heart-wrenching. It becomes a truly brilliant piece. Walking out of the theater, with her voice still singing a melody, you feel a connection to her and her music. The intimate glimpse into her life is deeply moving. Just trust me: you need to see Amy.
