Set a weekend aside, buy a tub of ice cream, and hibernate in your bedroom because you’re about to binge watch The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmit. Tina Fey’s latest sitcom is perfect. It’s absurd but it’s sweet, and it’s absolutely hilarious. Ellie Kemper (you know her from The Office) is finally taking on a leading role. Kimmy’s been living in an apocalyptic bunker for 15 years, now trying to adapt to her new life in New York City. Yeah, it’s over the top, but it’s genuinely funny. Kemper is infectious as the joyful Kimmy Schmit. She’s so natural in the role- it’s the kind of character you hope the actress is like in real life. Titus Burgess kills it as her melodramatic gay roommate, trying SO hard to make it to Broadway. Jane Krakowski is absurdly funny as a pill popping housewife who hires Kimmy to babysit. It’s a brilliant show- it’s light and fluffy but it’s bold and (some times) poignant. It’s perfect for Netflix- it’s easy to devour the 13 episode season in a sitting.Tina Fey has done it again. I can see this show joining the ranks of 30 Rock and Parks and Rec. It’s a fresh new comedy that’s endearing and hilarious. What’s not to love?
