After rumors, getting more unrealistic by the second, we finally have substantial news coming out of the Star Wars tent. And not just a blurry photo of JJ Abrams having coffee with someone- we’ve got actual legitimate news about Episode VII.
Announced on Tuesday, we lost our attention to Warner Brothers whispers as a nearly complete cast list came out about the highly anticipated movie of the decade (as it’s called).
JJ Abrams has been talent hunting for months, but the list seems straight from Hollywood’s short list. And let me tell you that our patience has been rewarded as the iconic roles could not be more perfectly cast.
Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) will all be reprising their iconic roles for the screen.
Joining them are the perfect balance between A-Listers, up-and-comers, and fresh talent.
Out of no where, they were able to land screen legend Max von Sydow and Andy Serkis, the God of motion capture performances, to likely play The Sith Lord and Yoda (we think!!!).
In addition, they’ve got Oscar Isaac and Domhall Gleeson (who are on the rise) with Adam Driver as a potential apprentice to the Dark Side (we previously predicted he could be Darth Vader).
Just like the first films, this is also a catapult to propel unknowns into the spectrum as it was for Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. Daisy Ridley was sent across the pond from British television to play a part. While it may seem JJ Abrams has made his cast predominantly male, he promises he’s still auditioning a major female role.
We couldn’t be more confident in putting our precious movie into Abrams hands as he’s proved himself with this phenomenal casting. As long as there’s no lens glare, something he’s infamously overused, we think Star Wars is shaping up to be the experience we all hoped it could be.
